Hilaria Baldwin Pens Touching Tribute to Newborn Baby: ‘Our Name Means Happy In All Languages’

On Wednesday, September 28, Hilaria took to Instagram to share a video of her 6-day-old daughter in a 13-second clip. In the caption, she penned a thoughtful open letter to her newborn daughter, addressing the letter, “Dear Ilaria,” and signing off the post with, “I love you always, mama🤍.”

In the letter, Hilaria tells her baby that she wants her to know “how happy we are that you came into our lives,” adding, “Our names mean ‘happy,’ and to share this connection with you feels like an honor to me.”

She admitted that the Baldwin family is “exhausted” as they try to adjust to the transition of being new parents for the seventh time. Hilaria explained that she and Alec are “trying to be as good parents as possible to your siblings, trying to be as present and active as possible, while also trying to have compassion for my body that I just had a baby.”

“It’s a hard balance and one that I don’t think I do very well, since it pulls at my heart in such a painful way when I feel I’m not giving enough to all my children,” she admitted. “Mom guilt…it’s real.”

“Every mother knows how wonderful and hard it is to have a baby, and that we often feel that we’re never enough,” she wrote. “And unfortunately, every mother knows we just have to suck it up and continue on. I want to do my very best to change it for all women, including you and your sisters.”

Hilaria revealed that she named her daughter Ilaria “in honor of happiness and the mothers in our family who came before you,” adding, “Our name means happy in all languages. A few letters different here and there…same meaning.”

“Hija mía, sometimes we have to lean into happiness, choose the warm and supportive people, because there are so many, and dial down the negativity to absorb as little of it as possible,” she concluded. “May we live happy, Ilaria, and may our names always be a strong, feminist reminder.”

Many fans took to the comments to praise her “beautiful” baby, with one follower adding, “Sending you all so much love, kindness, and grace 🙏❤️❤️ You’re absolutely amazing 💐💐💐💐.”

Earlier this week, Hilaria shared a photo of her taking her other two children out for a walk on her Instagram Stories as she opened up on the difficulties of being a mother to seven children all under the age of 10.

“Making sure my other babies feel they have mama time too,” she wrote over the photo. “Bringing baby home is magical, and it’s always a transition that we all feel. I am trying to balance new mom again, with breastfeeding, healing, and hustling to make sure all my children feel that I am there to be the best mama I can be.”

“Am I getting it right?” she asked. “Def not all the time … Mama guilt? Obviously. Emotions: all over the place. 7th time around, I know this is a process.” Fortunately, it looks like she has been receiving support for her two eldest children.

Over the weekend, Alec and Hilaria made an exclusive statement to PEOPLE to say how “blessed” they are to welcome a seventh child to their family. “How grateful we feel to welcome our newest little daughter into this world,” the couple said in a statement. “Just as magical and filled with love as every other little person we have been blessed with.”

“Her Baldwinito siblings are so excited and all discussing who she looks the most like,” they added. “We are overjoyed to introduce you to baby Ilaria.”
